Chicken Recall: Perdue Foods Recalls 167,171 Pounds of Chicken Nuggets and Tenders

Perdue Foods Issues Voluntary Recall

On August 16, 2024, Perdue Foods LLC of Perry, Georgia, announced a voluntary recall of approximately 167,171 pounds of frozen, ready-to-eat (RTE) chicken breast nuggets and tenders. The recall was initiated in conjunction with the United States Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).

Affected Products

The recalled products include:

  • 16-oz. packages of "PERDUE Chicken Breast Nuggets" with a "Best By" date of October 25, 2024, and lot code 2237.
  • 48-oz. packages of "PERDUE Simply Smart Organics Breaded Chicken Breast Tenders" with a "Best By" date of October 25, 2024, and lot code 2235.

Reason for Recall

The recall was issued due to the potential presence of extraneous materials, specifically small pieces of clear plastic, in the affected products. There have been no confirmed reports of illness or injury associated with the recalled products.

What to Do

Consumers who have purchased the recalled products are urged to discard them immediately or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Perdue Foods is also contacting customers who purchased the recalled products through online retailers.
