Fc Twente End The Season In 11th Place

FC Twente End the Season in 11th Place

Eredivisie Campaign Concludes with Disappointing Finish

FC Twente's 2022/23 Eredivisie campaign came to an end on Sunday with a 2-1 defeat to PEC Zwolle. The result saw the Tukkers finish the season in 11th place, their lowest finish since the 2017/18 season.

Twente had a disappointing season by their own standards, failing to meet expectations after finishing fourth the previous campaign. They struggled for consistency throughout the season, winning just nine of their 34 league matches.

Despite their poor league form, Twente did enjoy some success in the KNVB Cup, reaching the semi-finals before being knocked out by eventual winners PSV Eindhoven.

Player of the Season: Vaclav Cerny

Vaclav Cerny was one of the few bright spots in a disappointing season for Twente. The Czech winger scored eight goals and provided six assists in all competitions, and was a constant threat to opposition defenses.

Manager of the Season: Ron Jans

Ron Jans was appointed manager of Twente in January 2023, and he was unable to turn around the club's fortunes. The Dutchman won just four of his 17 league matches in charge, and he will be under pressure to improve results next season.

Outlook for Next Season

Twente will be hoping for a much better season in 2023/24. They have a number of talented players in their squad, and they will be aiming to challenge for a top-six finish.

The Tukkers will also be hoping to make a run in the KNVB Cup, and they will be confident of reaching the final if they can find some consistency in their performances.
